The LGBT market in Ticino is already present with more than 240,000 overnight stays, revenue from the tourist tax of more than one million Swiss francs to the state and an average expenditure for an induced value of 50 million francs annually. The published figures are calculated by cross-referencing various statistics including those of Switzerland Tourism.
GayLugano.com’s task is to facilitate and improve the reception in the area for our rainbow guests.
Promoting our beautiful Canton
These are our ideas that we wish to share with you:
– reporting of the LGBT tour on the websites of regional, cantonal and national tourist boards. Both for free tours during June pride month as well as private tours available all year round.
– distribution of flyers for LGBT tours in tourist board offices open to the public throughout the year and with more emphasis in June.
– promotion of GayLugano.com at major LGBT events in Switzerland with distribution of informational materials and thematic giveaways
– promotion of GayLugano.com in our natural basin, Switzerland, southern Germany and northern Italy.
– promotion of GayLugano.com in LGBT community top destinations with organic growth via websites in London, Paris, Milan, Munich, Vienna, Lake Como, Mykonos, Sydney.

LGBT Events in Ticino
Create four major LGBT events during the year.
One sports event, a team tournament in the disciplines of swimming, volleyball and soccer. Using a sports center for a weekend this event would be feasible with the help of volunteers.
A festival with concerts, excursions, gastronomy inspired by the Pink Festival in Austria or the gay ski week in Arosa. For example, if the Lugano Marittima facility stayed for an extra weekend to become a Rainbow Village.
A foodies weekend event promoting our wines and cuisines in the gay community, like similar events in California wine region.
A gay hiking weekend discovering the many beautiful paths in Ticino.
The benefit would be huge because Ticino would enter the circuits of sporting events and festivals and they would be republished in a large number of trade media for free.
This is only possible with everyone’s cooperation, the support of tourist boards, politics and the generosity of sponsors.
